REAL NAME: Kizzy Ruiz

  • CAREER:                                   In 1996, Ruiz won the Junior Monarch with “A Cry for the Nation” (written by Wayne Modeste). In 1997, she retained her title “A Letter to King David” (written by Gregory Ballantyne). Ruiz first made it to the finals in 2004 Calypso Monarch competition with “Collateral Damage.” After taking two years off to concentrate on her studies and work, she returned in 2009 to perform at the Generation Next Calypso Tent and place 5th in the 2009 National Calypso Monarch competition with “Class Language” which was written by Dermott Pierre. She also earned 3rd place in 2009 National Calypso Queen competition and calypso titles in Arima and Couva. Ruiz made the Calypso Monarch Finals in 2010 and 2011. Her other calypsoes include:
