Brian MacFarlane began his career as a costume designer with the Raoul Garib band. He first achieved success in 2004 when he won the Medium Band category with "The Washing: By Fire, By Water." He went on to win the Large Band of the Year seven consecutive years between 2007 and 2013. In 2010, Brian MacFarlane received the Chaconia Medal (Gold) for his success as a designer. His major accomplishments in the Large Band Category include:
