Specializing in East Indian music, JMC was founded in 1977 by a group players that included Narsaloo Ramiah. In 1986, the band crossed over into other genres of music and began playing calypso, soca, and reggae. In 1987, it made its debut on the road for Carnival when it supplied music for the masquerade band Rab's Immortal. JMC has accompanied various local and foreign singers in concert including: Lord Kitchener; the Mighty Sparrow; David Rudder; Blueboy; Denyse Plummer; Ricki Jai; Sundar Popo; Kumar Sanu (India); Kanchan (India); and Babla (India). In 1993, Veerendra Persad became the band's leader, and throughout the 1990s, the band continued to provide Carnival music for masquerade bands such as Show Case, Raoul Garib, Max Awo, and D'Midas Associates. From 2000 to 2002, the band supplied Carnival music for the masquerade band Trini Revellers, and will do so again in 2003. The band has performed internationally in Canada, England, Guyana, Suriname, and the USA, and has copped several Trinidad & Tobago Music Awards (1996, 1997, 1998) and Sunshine Awards (1997, 1998, 1999).
