CAREER:                                 Derek grew up on Buller Street in Woodbrook, close to where George Bailey established his band's headquarters in 1956. Greatly influenced by Bailey, Derek founded his own band, D' Midas Touch, in 1978. By the 1990s, there was a great demand for his design and crafting expertise and he became involved in other Trinidad-like Carnivals in the Caribbean, Canada, and the USA.
