CAREER:                                 In August 2001, Ramchand was appointed Professor Emeritus in West Indian Literature by the University of the West Indies. He also taught English at Colgate University, New York, USA. Ramchand wrote the following books: West Indian Narrative West Indian Poetry An Introduction to the Study of West Indian Literature                                  Ramchand also served as a senator in the legislature of Trinidad & Tobago.
