CAREER: Growing up in Port of Spain, Springer learned to play the guitar aand started a band while in high school. He left Trinidad to further his studies in England and later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he formed a band called Sanctuary. He toured the world and performed with Trinidad Calypso Band at the 1988 World's Fair in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
After his return to the USA, Springer moved to Michigan and joined the Trinidad Tripoli Steel Band. He performed and recorded with Tripoli over the following ten years, occasionally appearing with Trinidad panmen Robert Greenidge and Othello Molineaux. He was a songwriter and founded the musical project Tropicooljazz. He collaborated with Brian Pinard to perform as "The Knights of The Holy Trinity" to accompany Brian Pinard's uncle, calypsonian Sir Lancelot to record Sir Lancelot's final album, Pinaryhymns - Religious Calypso. |
