While a student at El Dorado Secondary, he arranged for the school's steelband and, as a solo artist, won first place at the San Fest in 1992. He later won the El Dorado Secondary Music Festival in 1999. He became interested in arranging when he began working with his father, Jit Samaroo, as his memory began to fade and his struggle with Alzheimer's disease intensified. He won a Music Literacy Trust Fund scholarship and studied musical arts at the University of the West Indies. For the 2011 Panorama, he penned two compositions (Showdown" and "T.K.O.) and arranged for four steelbands: Trinidad Nostalgic (Single Pan); Nutones (Small); Melodians (Medium); and Our Boys (Large). His other notable composition was "Band from Space." He later became the arranger for the Renegades Steelband when his father retired. After arranging for Renegades for a few years, Samaroo led Supernovas to 2nd Place in the 2016 Steelband Panorama Final.
