Carnival in the 2000sLegends began the new millennium by winning the Large Band-of-the-Year title in 2000 and 2001 for its second and third consecutive titles. The number of masqueraders in bands such as Barbarossa, Legends, and Poison began to reach a few thousands. On June 5, 2003, Trinidad & Tobago High Court Judge Amrika Tiwary-Reddy ruled that the Carnival 2003 Parade of Bands competition was not judged in accordance with the published rules, and declared all National Carnival Commission (NCC) results "unlawful, null and void and of no effect." Thus, for the first time since 1955, there was no Large Band-of-the-Year winner in 2003. Large Band-of-the-Year winners in this decade were Legends (2), Barbarossa (1), Trini Revellers (3), and Brain MacFarlane (2). Other bands that competed in the Large Band Category during this decade included Legacy and Island People.
